Officials directed to provide basic amenities to Kundrathur
The Madras High Court has directed Kundrathur Block Development Officer (BDO), Kundrathur Panchayat Union to inspect Kundrathur village union in Thandalam Panchayat and submit a report to the Kancheepuram District Collector as regards a plea alleging total lack of basic infrastructure facilities in both the areas.

A division bench comprising Justice S Manikumar and Justice Subramonium Prasad, on finding that the Kanchipuram District Collector has already instructed the BDO to carry out inspection in the area and submit a report, said “If inspection as ordered has not been done and report submitted as directed, the BDO, Kundrathur, is directed to cause inspection with reference to the averments that basic amenities are lacking and submit a report to the District Collector within two weeks.”
“The District Collector, Kancheepuram district is directed to act on the report and take necessary action,” the bench held.
SK Ramachandran, president, Sri Ganapathy Nagar Kudieruppour Nala Sangam, Thandalam, had submitted that people residing in Kundrathur are facing hardship and suffering due to lack of basic amenities, such as proper water supply, road and drainage.
Espousing the cause of public, the Sangam made a representation on January 23 and February 2. But since no action has been taken, the High Court was moved, the plea said.
