Knives out for Minister Veeramani

Veeramani was in-charge of the five Assembly segments in the Vellore LS constituency though Vellore east secretary and Arakonam MLA S Ravi was in charge of the KV Kuppam constituency.

Anguished cadre blamed Veeramani for the Vellore poll loss saying that if he had taken care of the party in the district in the first place, it would not have led to the present rout. AIADMK workers wanted party’s joint coordinator and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to initiate action against the Minister similar to his axing of IT minister Manikandan recently.

“He ensured that corporation district secretary’s post was not filled for years to ensure there was no rival to his power in the district,” they alleged.

A senior MGR loyalist lamented, “Wherever Veeramani goes, he ensures loss for the party. In Vellore, Anaicut and Ranipet were once AIADMK bastions, but we lost them because Veeramani wantonly ensured that our candidates lost as he felt if they won they would become his rivals. ”
