“To get elected as Rajya Sabha MP, I needed the votes of 34 MLAs and DMK had 108 of them. All 10 MLAs who seconded me were from the DMK and none of them were from Congress. It is wrong to say that I was elected with the support of Congress MLAs,” said Vaiko, adding that he was never ever elected to Parliament with the support of Congress.

Recently, Vaiko while delivering his address when Article 370 was scrapped, blamed Congress for Jammu and Kashmir’s current status. Congress made the initial blunder and BJP made the irrevocable blunder, said Vaiko.

The comments upset Congress leader in the state and they reacted against Vaiko by criticising him. TNCC president KS Alagiri, attacked Vaiko by saying that Vaiko should not forget that he could not have been elected without the support of their party MLAs.

The same statement was made by senior Congress leader EVKS Elangovan who also said that Vaiko was elected with the support of Congress MLAs, but they were shocked as he started attacking Congress within 15 days of getting elected.

“Vaiko was politically orphaned, but it was DMK-Congress alliance which took him into the alliance and only because of the alliance the MDMK won one Lok Sabha MP in the form of Ganesamoorthy and Vaiko himself getting elected to Rajya Sabha, but without any gratitude to Congress he is attacking the party,” said Elangovan.

Vaiko replied that he cannot forgive Congress for its role in supporting Sri Lankan government in ethnic cleansing of Tamils.

    Thirumavalavan differs

However, another alliance partner VCK differed from Vaiko’s stand on Kashmir. “If we have to criticise Congress for its role in Kashmir we have to go back to 1950s to analyse the situation back then. We cannot just criticise Congress now for thepresent situation,” said Thirumavalavan.
