‘Going for Nerkonda Paarvai, grant leave,’ students’ plea rejected

Irked by the students’ leave letters, teachers have asked them to bring their parents on Friday.

According to M Mohammed Riyabdeen, a III year student of Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from EGS Pillay Polytechnic College in Nagapattinam, around 50 students of a same class, who are diehard fans of Ajith decided to watch the actor’s latest flick Nerkonda Parvai on the first day on Thursday. “Since Thursday is a working day for us, we decided to watch the movie by taking leave. But, the HOD denied permission,” Riyabdeen said.

S Naveen, another student, said that he wanted to watch the movie with all his classmates and so he also applied for leave. “We have been asked to bring our parents. But, we are not bothered,” Naveen stressed.

When asked about the issue, principal V Vijaya Balan said that he was not aware of any such incident in the college. “Probably, the students might have done it to get social media attention. Still, we will hold an inquiry and inform their parents, besides issuing a warning,” Vijaya Balan said.
