A division bench comprising Justice S Manikumar and Subramonium Prasad before whom the plea moved move Coimbatore Corporation Contractors Welfare Association came up, sought the government to decide on their plea within the next four weeks.
The association treasurer Ammaciappan had submitted that at present a bag of cement is being sold at Rs 385 while five months ago it was sold at Rs 340. The increase was brought about without any prior announcement. Moreover, the Cement Producers by creating a syndicate among themselves were resorting to such uniform increase of price clandestinely.
