According to R Ponnusamy (79), a retired employee and a resident of Vadakalur village near kunnam in Perambalur, his ancestral property of about 88 cents from a 44-acre land has been encroached by an individual with the support of revenue officials. The land was enjoyed by the individuals and Ponnusamy has been trying to retrieve it with the help of the officials for thepast 10 years.

Ponnusamy said that he had been meeting the officials with the petitions for the past 10 years, but his demands were not fulfilled. “The encroachers have changed the name in the patta in their names. But they are not interested to retrieve the land and change it to my name,” he said.

Since no action has been initiated against the encroachers for the past 10 years, Ponnusamy, who was frustrated came to the Perambalur Collectorate by walking upside down and handed over the petition to the District Collector. However, the police on duty, directed him to the DRO who was receiving petitions on Monday.

“The DRO received my petition and assured of retrieving my land,” saidPonnusamy.
