Cadre get help from Ministers

“Interaction between local cadre and their out-of-district colleagues revealing the shoddy state of district politics was the reason for this,” said a senior party functionary. “Visiting MLAs were surprised when informed by cadre that local branch secretaries were not paid any monetary help despite being responsible for the party’s success,” the functionary added. It was then that Ministers and MLAs advised local cadre to come to them for help. This made the AIADMK cadre jubilant. A party cadre S Ramasamy told DT Next, “We may never take up the offer of the Ministers and MLAs, but the very fact that they offered help encourages all of us.”

School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan, who was in charge of the Vellore seat, was literally shocked when told that there was no corporation district secretary’s post. He said, “I will ensure that the post is filled within a month.”

Though Minister Veeramani was not available for comment, a source close to him while accepting what Sengottaiyan planned said, “The Minister has asked for the creation of the corporation district secretary’s post.” A Minister seeking anonymity said, “That Sengottaiyan is serious about filling this post can be seen from the fact that former Vellore district secy LKB Vasu, who was forced out of AIADMK by Veeramani was brought back by Sengottaiyan recently.”
