Tamilisai defends EC’s action against DMK prez
BJP state unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday defended the action of Election Commission in filing a case against DMK president MK Stalin and sealing a marriage hall in which an indoor meeting was conducted, in Ambur in Vellore district.
Chennai
“When it comes to elections both the ruling and the opposition parties are the same and everyone should follow the election rules. When there is model code of conduct, permission had to be sought before conducting meeting, but it is clear that DMK had not obtained permission for the meeting and so the marriage hall was sealed,” said Tamilisai, while addressing reportersat Chennai airport.
She also said that EC has no vengeance against Stalin. “Stalin did not bind to the election rules and so a case was filed against him. There is no vengeance against Stalin for being the leader of Opposition party,” replied Tamilisai when asked whether government is targeting Opposition parties and Stalin in particular.
Similar comments were also made by State Dairy Minister KT Rajenthra Bhalaji, who also defended the action of EC.
“Permission was not obtained for conducting indoor meeting by DMK. Is DMK not aware of the rules that permission had to be obtained before conducting a political meeting,” questioned Rajenthra Bhalaji.
