12 TN cities can expect rain: Meteorological Department

Due to South East Monsoon, cities near Western Ghats received rain which has now become less frequent. Chennai and northern TN cities received occasional pouring in the past week because of convection.

This lessened the heat and increased the groundwater level considerably. But it was not enough to fill the lakes.

Due to the formation of convection rain can be expected in future. The meteorologist from Chennai said, “Convection is seen forming in the northern cities. This may lead to rainfall in the following 12 cities Thiruvarur, Kancheepuram, Vizhupuram, Thiruvannamalai, Trichy, Nagapattinam, Madurai, Salem, Dharmapuri, Thanjavur, Pudukottai. Chennai will be cloudy, and some areas may receive rainfall. The level of rain received due to south east monsoon is less this year too and it is not as expected.”
