BJP misusing NIA to make inroads into TN, alleges Stalin
DMK president MK Stalin has alleged that the BJP-led Centre is misusing the NIA (National Investigation Agency) to advance its political interests. Stalin’s condemnation comes a week after his party had voted the NIA Amendment Bill moved by the same BJP in the Parliament.

“Centre is exploiting the NIA to advance its political interests like it had politicised independent agencies like Enforcement Directorate, I-T and CBI,” Stalin alleged.
Pointing to ‘Q’ branch, an exclusive wing functioning under a special officer who reports to the Chief Minister on management of internal security in Tamil Nadu, Stalin, in a statement, said the ruling BJP should stop sending NIA, which bypasses the state Q Branch, to several districts in the state to target the Islamic youth and project the community people as terrorists.
“No faith supports terrorism. The BJP-led Centre should realise that unity and patriotic fervor was flourishing in minorities among all religions,” Stalin who is also the Leader of Opposition said, adding that the unflinching love of all communities towards the nation was the greatest strength of the plurality of the country.
Suggesting that various democratic means were available for the BJP to inspire confidence among the state people, if it intends to gain a foothold in Tamil Nadu, Stalin remarked that it doesn’t suit the Union government to project the entire minority community as terrorists and make arrests without the knowledge of the state government to make political inroads into the state.
Accusing the ruling AIADMK of being a mute spectator to BJP’s abuse of NIA for political interests in the state, the DMK president urged the incumbent AIADMK regime to strongly register its opposition to the BJP government misusing the unity of political opponents against terrorism to further its political interests.
