The RK Nagar MLA said that are discrepancies in the draft National Education Policy 2019 proposed by the Centre and demanded an assurance from the Union government that Hindi will not be imposed as third language.
“The state’s rights should not be taken away by the Centre under the new education policy as it recommends that all the power and control to be with the Union government. This is against the interest of federalism and integrity,” Dhinakaran said in a statement.
Mother tongue Tamil should be the first language and English should be a supplementary language for global communication. The third language should be left as an option for the students. Under no pretext students should be forced to learn Hindi, he said.
