Coming out strongly in support of three language system, AIADMK’s Kunnam MLA RT Ramachandran asked the political parties not to oppose the system as it would help poor students. He also said children of elected members, including him, have already made their children to compulsorily learn Hindi.

“I am dead against those who oppose the three language system, not as a politician but as a parent myself. I welcome the three language system and I wanted to express it in public and made it today and I am relieved now,” said Ramachandran after inaugurating the part time library at Aranarai near Perambalur on Wednesday.

Stating that he also opposed force learning of Hindi language, Ramachandran said, the children of those politicians, who oppose the third elective language are learning Hindi and have been serving as MPs and Ministers and reside in Delhi. But the poor students, who learn in the government schools are really affected as learning an additional language would only help them in their life, he said.

“My daughter has been learning Hindi at a private school in Perambalur. I, myself insist her to learn Hindi at home. She needs the language for her career as she wants to do her higher studies in New Delhi. My party opposes it, but I cannot do so as my conscience will never allow me,” he said.

He asked the students to have Tamil as the main language. But, learning an optional third language would always help the poor students and so during the occasion of public hearings, think and do accordingly, he said.

District Librarian Ashokan presided over the programme and Perambalur MLA R Tamilselvan and others participated in the inauguration.
