Draft NEP remarks: Vaiko comes in support of Suriya

Vaiko, in a statement, said, “Suriya is a strong believer of social justice and state autonomy and I was happy at Suriya voicing against the draft NEP. Only when there was opposition to Suriya his good works on education through Agaram Foundation reached many and he is doing a yeoman service to the society through the foundation.”

Vaiko also said that the draft NEP is against social justice and will destroy the multi-faceted nature of the country. The dreams of the poor students will be shattered if the draft NEP is implemented, but it is good that Suriya, one of the leading actors in Kollywood, had expressed his opinion against the draft NEP.

“I was busy in cases related to Sterlite and Sedition Acts and so could not appreciate Suriya on time. I feel bad for it. I was astonished at Suriya’s reply for people who opposed him for registering his comments on the draft NEP,” said Vaiko.

He further said that through Agaram Foundation more than 3,000 students have attained the benefit of finishing higher education and among them 90 per cent are first generation students. Agaram Foundation goes to villages and identifies the deserving candidates.

Former chief minister K Kamaraj dreamt of education to all, but the draft NEP is against the dream. People like Suriya are implementing the dreams of Kamaraj, said Vaiko.
