The youth was arrested on charge of disturbing peace soon after he was discharged from a hospital, police said.

Earlier, four persons were arrested for allegedly attacking Mohammed Faisan for the social media post.

They were part of a group of men who had gone to Faisan’s house in Poravacheri village on July 11 and objected to the post, police had said.

After a quarrel, they attacked him, leaving him with injuries. Following this, he was admitted to a government hospital.

Even as he was undergoing treatment at the hospital, the police registered a case against Faisan and a few others for allegedly trying to disturb peace and communal harmony. On Sunday, after he left the hospital, he was arrested.

As the attack triggered a row, S Ezhilan from Thanjavur, the founder-president of Tamil Nadu Kudiarasu Katchi, put up a post on Facebook, inviting people for a beef festival to be held in Kumbakonam soon. The post was shared two days after Faisan was attacked.

After the post was shared widely, the Village Administrative Officer filed a police complaint against Ezhilan, following which he was arrested under charges including IPC sections 298 (uttering words with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 505(2) (statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill will between classes).
