    AIADMK legislature party leader A Anbazhagan on Friday expressed apprehension that the Assembly session being convened from Monday by the ruling Congress  party in the Union Territory is for political reasons.

    Talking to reporters, Anbazhagan said at a time when the budget is to be presented in a couple of weeks, convening a session from Monday next was due to ulterior motives.


    In the notification, it was not mentioned whether it is a special session while, it was termed as a special session.


    If so there is no urgency for a special session,  he said, adding that it seems that the session is for political reasons. Anbazhagan said that the opposition DMK in Tamil Nadu insisted the government to adopt a resolution against the Hydrocarbon project in Tamil Nadu to which the AIADMK government replied that it was the then Congress-DMK coalition UPA government at the Centre which had given permission for the project.


    However, he said, the Tamil Nadu government is yet to give permission for the project and it decided to file a criminal case against those who attempted to set up it.


    DMK president MK Stalin wanted such a resolution to be adopted in Puducherry so that he could press the TN citing the same, Anbazhagan claimed and added that he (Stalin) might have talked to CM V Narayanasamy in this regard which forced the convening of  session from July 22.


    He stated that the State Planning Board meeting has finalized Rs 8,545 crore as the proposed budget. However, the government had failed to take it to the notice of the Centre he said adding that at a time when the budget is to be presented, the Finance Secretary has been transferred.


    Anbazhagan who congratulated the government for starting the “Makkal Kural,” the grievance redressal camps said, the Lt Governor should stop her grievance rederssal programmes forthwith.
