TN Govt constitutes award in Si Pa Aditanar’s name with Rs 1 lakh cash prize
State Minister for Tamil Development, K Pandiarajan, on Thursday, announced in the Assembly that the government has constituted an award in the name of Si Pa Aditanar, Founder, Daily Thanthi Group, for vernacular newspapers and magazines.

Pandiarajan, in his address, said, “Newspapers, weekly and monthly magazines which portray the culture and tradition of the Tamil language without usage of other language words would be given an award each in the name of Aditanar, the Father of Tamils”.
The three awards will be given annually and each award will carry a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a shield, a certificate and a golden shawl. The government has allotted Rs 3.75 lakh for the award, said the Minister. Pandiarajan also said that the State government will introduce awards in the name of Vallalar for people involved in spiritual service and the awardee will receive a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a sovereign gold medal, a certificate and a golden shawl.
The minister further announced that an award in the name of Devaneya Pavanar will be given to a Tamil scholar who is involved in research in Tamil language and developing Tamil dictionary. Awardee will receive Rs 1 lakh cash, one sovereign gold medal, a certificate and a golden shawl.
