Balaji’s old remarks on MK create ruckus
The Assembly on Tuesday witnessed noisy scenes with the ruling AIADMK and the opposition DMK engaged in a heated exchange over the speech made by V Senthil Balaji as transport minister earlier.
Chennai
It all started when AIADMK MLA Pauvnraj hit out at the previous DMK regime for financial difficulties in transport corporation. Raising a point of order, DMK MLA T Senguttuvan denied it.
Responding to it, Transport Minister MR Vijayabhaskar read a speech of his predecessor Senthil Balaji who as AIADMK minister blamed former chief minister M Karunanidhi for making the transport corporation to take a begging bowl.
DMK members, however, were on their feet objecting to Vijayabhaskar for naming Karunanidhi. They sought the reference to the late leader be expunged.
Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar said that Vijayabhaskar did not name former CM but he simply read the statement of political turncoat Senthil Balaji. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami also insisted that there was nothing wrong in it. “You should be beware of persons like Senthil Balaji,” he said.
After repeated disruption, Minister P Thangamani urged Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaraman to expunge the reference to MK to which he obliged.
