In a release here, Narayanasamy said the move will affect the people of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. He said right from the period of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru as the Prime Minister, the country was following the three language principle. That means, one should learn their mother tongue and English and the third language is as per their wish. But now, the imposition of Hindi by the Central government need to be condemned, he said.

Stating that this action of the Centre will lead to law and order problem, the Chief Minister hoped that the BJP-led NDA government would function by recalling the vigour and intensity of the “anti-Hindi” agitations in the past here and in Tamil Nadu.

He said there is no use of a person who knows only English and Hindi and do not know Tamil working in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry as it would do no good to the public here.

Narayanasamy also cautioned that the Centre should not try to impose Hindi against the wish of the people of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

    Kamal condemns Hindi imposition

Meanwhile, Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan on Sunday said, Tamil Nadu would never change its stand on opposing Hindi imposition. “We are opposing (imposition of Hindi) from the very beginning. It is surprising that the Centre expects a change of heart in this regard. I can assure that such a change of heart (supporting Hindi) would never happen in Tamil Nadu. I am telling this as a Tamilian,” he told reporters when asked about his view on the Centre removing the option to write the postal department exams in the regional languages.
