Lok Adalat solves 1,969 cases in Vellore

Inaugurated by district principal judge S Selvasundari in the combined court premises, the inaugural led to a total of 10,636 cases being taken up and 1969 cases being solved through arbitration.

Speaking on the occasion, the judge said that lok adalats always ended in success for the affected parties as justice was given speedily due to the full cooperation of the bar and the bench.

In one case Subash (36), a mason of Virupakshipuram, was killed on the spot when he was knocked down by a lorry at Bagayam on October 12, 2018. His mother Valarmathi filed a case claiming a compensation of Rs 45 lakh. Taken up by the Adalat the case resulted in Valarmathi being ordered a compensation of Rs 8 lakh.
