    CM: Apex court decision a victory for democracy

    Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Friday termed the Supreme Court rejecting the appeal filed by Lt Governor Kiran Bedi and the Union Home Ministry against the Madras High Court order with regard to administrative control over the bureaucracy a “victory for democracy”.

    Talking to media here, Narayanasamy reacting to the apex court order said that this is a victory for democracy as well as a victory for the people of Puducherry.The CM then thanked the judges of the top court for dismissing the L-G’s appeal. Narayanasamy said that the government counsel argued that Bedi has no right to move the apex court on the issue and she should have filed the appeal in the Madras High Court if she desired. Following this the Supreme Court rejected her appeal and directed her to approach the Madras High Court if needed, he added.


    It has become clear that the elected government enjoys all powers and the Lt Governor could not intervene into the day-to-day affairs of the government, Narayanasamy said


    The CM said that he have been pleading with PM Narendra Modi to recall the Lt. Governor who is hindering developmental schemes here and hoped that he would do the needful in this respect.
