3 kg of gold, Rs 3 lakh cash seized by flying squad

In the first seizure, officials conducting a vehicle check on the Gudiyattam-Pernambut Road found Rs 2.98 lakh in cash carried by Noor Basha (40) of Tirupatthur. When questioned, he said that he was carrying the money for investing in mango business in Pernambut. However, as he had no documentary evidence to prove his claim, officials seized the money and handed it over to the Pernambut Tahsildar Shenbagavalli, who deposited it in the local sub treasury. In another incident, the flying squad officials seized 3 kgs of gold carried by Vaniyambadi jewel shop owner Srinivasan in a car on the Vaniyambadi – Tirupatthur Road. As he had no evidence to back his claim, officials seized the gold.
