“I am duty bound to caution that the proposed one tribunal for water disputes should not pose a threat to the final verdict of the Supreme Court on the Cauvery dispute and the management authority constituted on that basis,” Stalin said.

He urged the ruling AIADMK to get an assurance from the Centre that the proposed Bill would not disturb the final verdict on Cauvery water dispute.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, the DMK president also said that it was inevitable for state engaged in water disputes to suspect that the proposal has been mooted to deliberately drag inter-state water disputes without resolving them if the to be tabled bill also deletes the clause making it “mandatory to publish tribunal verdicts in the central gazette,” as was done in a previous Bill.
