Girl’s body with injuries brought to GH, probe on
A six-year-old girl was reportedly brought dead to Pollachi Government Hospital in the district under mysterious circumstances on Thursday, leading to a police inquiry being held.

According to the police, Chinnaraj, a daily wager, and his wife Selvi from Marapettai in Pollachi brought their daughter Monisha (6) to the Pollachi GH over complaints of frothing at the mouth. Monisha was studying in Class One at a school in the same neighbourhood.
The girl had gone to sleep as per her normal routine the previous night, but was reportedly found unconscious with frothing at the mouth the next morning. Her parents and their relatives rushed the girl to Pollachi GH, where doctors upon examining her, declared her to have been brought dead.
When the girl’s parents then attempted to take away her body, the doctors refused to hand it over, suspecting something amiss in her death.
They suspected foul play as there were reportedly injury marks all over her body.
The body was then sent for post mortem at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).
A special team of police led by Pollachi Deputy Superintendent of Police Siva Kumar then began an inquiry into the little girl’s death.
Officials of the Revenue department also are carrying out a separate inquiry.
Police said that the doctors have raised suspicion in the girl’s death. “Only a post mortem will reveal the exact reason for her death,” an officer said.
Further investigations are on.
