Woman constable files sexual abuse plaint

Police sources here on Sunday said the woman police constable, attached to the Tallakulam police station in Madurai city, in her complaint stated that she was the mother of two children and facing a divorce case filed by her husband. Following this, she had got in touch with the president of an association of the caste she belonged to.

The association president reportedly promised to help her reunite with her husband and demanded and accepted a sum of Rs 1.50 lakh from her. He again demanded parting with Rs 50,000 for helping her.

The woman claimed that on Friday, she was asked to come to a restaurant, where she was introduced to a godman and an ex-councillor. The godman allegedly applied something on her forehead under the guise of blessing her, after which the woman police constable reportedly fainted. After regaining consciousness, she had realised that she was sexually abused by the association president, godman and theex-Councillor.

The woman then demanded action against the three persons. Based on her complaint, the Tallakulam police are conducting inquiries.
