In a statement, Ramadoss said, “The vaccine park was the dream project of PMK youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss to manufacture vaccines on a par with world standards and if the park is setup, vaccines will be available at a relatively cheaper price. Government should not take the financial burdens into account and should not shutdown the vaccine plant.”

He also said that when Anbumani Ramadoss was the Union health minister he announced the scheme of setting up vaccine cum medical park in Chengalpattu at the cost of Rs 594 crore and as the project was delayed, the cost escalated to Rs 710 crore in 2017 and to Rs 904 crore in 2019.

If the plant is constructed seven types of vaccines such as Pentavalent, Hepatitis-B, Rabies and so on would be manufactured at world class and the rate of the vaccines would be reduced which will be beneficial to large number of people in the country.

The vaccine park would also be beneficial to the government as vaccines manufactured here can also be exported, said Ramadoss.
