‘Tenkasi dist under govt consideration’
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday said that the government is considering the proposal to make Tenkasi a separate district. People, who were gathered at the meeting, were delighted after the announcement as it has been their long-pending demand.

He was speaking at the event in which scores of cadres led by former minister Esakki Subbiah merged with AIADMK in the after quitting AMMK, in Tenkasi.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters in Thoothukudi airport, Palaniswami that the State government will urge the Centre to reduce the petrol and diesel prices keeping in mind the welfare of common people.
CM inauguratesophthalmology conference
Tamil Nadu has always been a forerunner in ophthalmology with many premier eye institutes training aspiring ophthalmologists in advanced skills and technology, Chief Minister K Palaniswami said here on Saturday.
Inaugurating the 34th edition of the two-day annual conference of Intraocular Implant and Refractive Society of India (IIRSI), he said such meets play an important role in enhancing skills of eye surgeons, given the prevalence of eye disorders, cornea diseases, people with visual impairment and those requiring vision correction.
Dr Amar Agarwal, Secretary General of IIRSI and Chairman of Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, said 20 top eye surgeons from various countries, including the USA and Germany were participating in the meet to showcase the latest advancements in the field.
