100 new buses among 500 for city

Among the 500 buses, MTC gets 100 buses, SETC gets 150 buses, Villupuram Transport Corporation gets 10 buses, Salem Transport Corporation gets 20 buses, Coimbatore Transport Corporation gets 30 buses, Kumbakonam Transport Corporation gets 110 buses, Madurai Transport Corporation gets 50 buses and Tirunelveli Transport Corporation gets 30 buses.

After flagging off the buses, Palaniswami inspected the facilities provided in the buses. He said, “1.74 lakh passengers are daily utilising the buses of eight transport corporations across the state. Apart from intra state bus services, state is also providing bus services to neighbouring states of Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry.”

Palaniswami also distributed 137 disaster equipment at the cost of Rs 7 crore. Palaniswami distributed Rotary (Ciruclar) Rescue Saw with Diamond Tipped Blade to Police ADGP Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal as mark of distribution of equipment. The list of equipment includes inflatable fibre boat, bullet carbide dipped chain saw, diamond chain saw, concrete hammer drill, breathing equipment cum cylinder, multifunction tower light generator, life jackers, air lift bag, gas cutters and so on.

After distributing them, Palaniswami said, “Tamil Nadu Special Police Battalion-13 in Poonmalle was converted into State Disaster Response force and Revenue Department through a Government Order allotted Rs 15 crore to buy advanced equipment for the disaster response force. As part of the fund 137 equipment were distributed at the cost of Rs 7 crore in the first phase.”

Palaniswami also commenced the commercial operations of three companies, EKKI Homa Pvt Ltd, Syrma Technology Pvt Ltd and Renaatus Procon Pvt Ltd, which signed MOU with the state at the second edition of Global Investors Meet. The total investment value of the three companies is Rs 140 crore.

He also laid foundation stone for 10 new companies situated in Cheyyaru, Ranipettai and Barugur sipcot. The total cost of MoUs signed by the companies is Rs 2,244 crore.
