    Use tech to take healthcare to nook and corner: Governor

    Healthcare system in the country can be improved considerably by the use of technology, noted Governor Banwarilal Purohit. He was speaking at the Doctors Day awards function organised by the Tamil Nadu Medical Council in Chennai on Monday.

    Pointing out how technology aided in bringing about advancements in the field like X-rays, CT and MRI scans, the Governor called for the formation of a National Knowledge Network and creation of a digital library, and using them for tele-education and tele-consultations so as to make quality medical care available even in remote areas of India.


    Over the years, diseases have only become numerous while lifestyles have become unnatural, he said, adding how the poor were suffering due to malnutrition and unhygienic surroundings while the affluent in India were facing a different problem altogether like increased incidence of metabolic syndrome comprising of obesity, diabetes, systemic hypertension, and fatty liver.


    “The mission before us is to make healthcare comprehensive, universal, affordable and qualitatively professional. For achieving this objective, the road ahead is going to be complex and arduous. It is only medical experts such as the award winners of today who can show the way for us to be,” Purohit exhorted.
