New Collectors assume charge in Madurai and Dindigul
T S Rajasekar assumed charge as Collector of Madurai and M Vijayalakshmi took charge as Dindigul Collector in their respective districts on Monday.

T S Rajasekar was a Group I officer of 1989 batch and joined the State government service and was promoted as an IAS officer in 2006. Prior to his assignment in Madurai, Rajasekar served as Secretary to Tamil Nadu State Election Commission.
Earlier in his career, he had also held posts in Department of Rural Development in different capacities and also discharged his duties in State Planning Commission and World Bank Poverty Reduction Project.
A native of Tirunelveli, Rajasekar, also served in Chief Minister’s Special Programme Implementation Department, sources said.
He was accorded a warm welcome by officials from various departments in the District Administration. Earlier, S Nagarajan, former Collector of Madurai, was transferred early in the month of June and District Revenue Officer S Santhakumar took additional charge as Collector,sources said.
As for Dindigul, M Vijayalakshmi took charge as Collector of Dindigul on Monday. She was an IAS officer of 2009 batch. Prior to assuming office in Dindigul, she served as Collector of Ariyalur from February 2018. Earlier, Vijayalakshmi also served as Deputy Commissioner of Health, Chennai Corporation and Sub Collector of Coimbatore.
In her previous posts, she performed her duties in Corporation offices in Erode and Trichy as Commissioner. To her credit, Vijayalakshmi during her tenure in Erode in 2012-13, received the ‘Best Corporation’ award from Chief Minister.
She also performed well to bring laurels to TrichyCorporation under the‘clean city ranking’ of Swachh Bharat Mission, sources said.
