Madurai man kills 9-yr-old daughter, self

The father and his daughter were found dead near a bridge at Thoppur and the bodies were found with froth in their mouth, sources said. Austinpatti police on learning this reached the spot and heldinquiries.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the deceased victims were residents of Mettupalayam, Coimbatore district. The deceased were identified as Kingston Kirubakaran (41), medical transcriptionist and her daughter Julia, aged nine. It was learned that Kirubakaran’s wife deserted him by getting divorce five months ago and was raising Julia with the help of his mother.

It is said that Kirubakaran could have taken the extreme step as he was frustrated and lonely. Austinpatti police recovered empty pesticide bottle and cool drink container from the site. A cell phone without SIM card was also recovered from the area. Hence it is investigated if Kirubakaran had given poison laced drink to his daughter and later he consumed the same. The bodies were sent to Government Rajaji Hospital for post-mortem.

Police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC (suspicious death).
