Withhold NEET until final SC order: PMK
PMK founder S Ramadoss on Sunday demanded the Union government to withhold the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) until final orders are passed by the Supreme Court on the issue.
Chennai
Ramadoss in a statement said, “The Constitutional bench of the Supreme Court in 2016 had stayed the judgment banning NEET and every Constitutional expert would know that it is an interim judgment. But, since 2016, the purpose of implementing NEET had not been met and the exam should be withheld till the final orders are passed by the apex court.” Ramadoss also said that NEET is against social justice and there are sufficient proofs to prove it. “Out of total 14,443 students who have obtained more than 300 marksin NEET 8,688 of them have completed plus two at least a year ago. More than 50 percentage of the students who have scored high marks have prepared dedicatedly by joining in private coaching centres. Out of theremaining students who have cleared more than 90 per cent have cleared by joining in private coaching centres,” said Ramadoss.
He further said that though there was entrance exam in the state from 1984 to 2006 for medical and engineering courses, large number of rural students got selected but now due to NEET, the situation had reverted back to 35 years. “This year too the number of students from government schools would be restricted to single digits and students from rural background would be restricted to double digits. Is this social justice,” questioned PMK founder Ramadoss.
