Motion against Speaker withdrawn fearing Centre:TTV
Sounding pessimistic over the DMK bringing down the AIADMK government, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary TTV Dhinakaran said that the DMK withdrew the no confidence motion against Speaker P Dhanapal due to fear of the Centre.

Talking to reporters in Madurai on Saturday, a day after the merger of Thanga Tamilselvan with the DMK, Dhinakaran said his exit from the party would not weaken the AMMK since loyal supporters and cadres are still with the party. Those who parted ways with the AMMK have a thirst of power and money, but still scores of cadre had been extending their support to the party, he added.
Thanga Tamilselvan launched a verbal attack criticising the AMMK party high command earlier. Tamilselvan had executed the task, which was assigned to him, of reprimanding Dhinakaran’s leadership and his party and exited. Despite instructing Tamilselvan not to address the media about party affairs, he went ahead and even convened party workers meeting in Theni in violation.
While the DMK and the AIADMK had been criticising the AMMK as a ‘letter pad party,’ both these parties had been enrolling functionaries of the AMMK with them to fill their void.
The ruling AIADMK was not concerned about the welfare of people and seldom bothered to redress their grievances, but wary of retaining power and governance had been struggling to achieve it. If legitimate and growing concerns about water scarcity remain ignored by the government, it would suffer a humiliating defeat in the upcoming local body polls, he said.
To a query on Theni MP P Raveendranath Kumar’s address in the Parliament session where he denied the prevalence of water scarcity in Tamil Nadu, Dhinakaran said it is up to the media and the people of the constituency to act on it.
