Three students injured after ceiling collapses in school
Three students were critically injured after a balcony of a government aided school near South Tower of Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai, collapsed and fell on them on Wednesday.

Sources said that the balcony at the entrance of school collapsed and fell on three students while they were entering the school in the morning to attend theclasses.
In the wake of the incident, fellow students and teachers came to rescue of the victims, who were immediately taken to hospital.
When contacted, Madurai Chief Educational Officer R Swaminathan, said that the school building was very old and the incident occurred at around 8.30 am.
Among the victims, two students suffered head injuries while one was hurt on his leg. The injured victims were receiving treatment at Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital. The condition of the victims is stable, he said.
The injured victims were identified as Class 12 student, V Veerakumar (17) of Pasiyapuram near Silaiman and Class 11 students, B Kumaravel Pandian (16) from Nallur and S Sakthivelrajan (16) of Samanatham.
Deputy Director of Fire and Rescue Services, P Saravanakumar along with District Fire Officer S Kalyanakumar inspected the school. Saravanakumar said that the building could have collapsed due to the impact of the recent rain.
Following the incident, some of the students of the school have submitted a petition to district administration seeking action against the school administration as the school was running in an old building, the students also sought the administration to strengthen the building. They also demanded that medical assistance should be provided to the injured victims.
