MNM gives diktat to party men on grama sabha meet
Makkal Needhi Maiam on Wednesday directed his party office bearers and cadres to pass a resolution on various issues including the drinking water issue in the grama sabha meeting to be held on June 28.
Chennai
In the instruction issued to the party cadres, MNM has issued five strict directions to his party men to implement them in the grama sabha meetings.
“A resolution should be passed on the water shortage faced by the public in the panchayat, water requirement and the ways to protect the water bodies,” MNM vice president Dr R Mahendran and general secretary A Arunachalam said.
They also advised them to pass a resolution highlighting the need for the local body polls. “They should also pass a resolution seeking to close the Tasmac shops located close to the places of worship and education,” the duo said.
MNM leaders said that the grama sabha has the power to stall the projects which were forced upon the public against their wishes. “If your villages were affected by Sterlite, hydrocarbon project and eight-lane road project, you should express your views in the grama sabha meeting. The meeting has the power to stall any projects which could affect the livelihoods and agriculture of the people. Hence a resolution should be passed against such projects,” they said, adding they should also pass resolution on any issue that impacts their village.
