Tamil Nadu gears for RS polls on July 18
The state will choose its Rajya Sabha members with the sitting MPs' tenure ending on July 24.

Tamil Nadu will go for Rajya Sabha elections on July 18th for choosing its six representatives. This comes following the end of tenure of D Raja, V Maithreyan, KP Arjunan, Lakshmanan, Rathinavel and Kanimozhi on July 24.
As the six berths from Tamil Nadu gets vacant it is expected DMK and AIADMK will elect 3 apiece. A Rajya Sabha MP needs the support of 34 MLAs.
Nominations could be filed from 1st July to 8th July and withdrawal on July 11. The election will begin at 8 in the morning of July 18th to 5 in the evening, the results will be out later in the day itself.
