DMK to raise Cauvery, loan waiver, NEET issues in Lok Sabha
Principal opposition party, the DMK has revealed a list of issues that it plans to raise in the 17th Lok Sabha. Getting the President’s approval for the State Assembly resolution seeking exemption for Tamil Nadu from NEET was high on the agenda of the party.

Sriperumbudur MP and Parliamentary party leader of DMK, T R Baalu, who represented his party in the all-party meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Sunday, has urged the Centre to discuss the Cauvery water sharing row, Mekedatu, loan waiver issues and official language status for Tamil in Central establishments in the State.
“Pressure must be exerted on Karnataka to immediately enforce the verdict of Cauvery Management Authority ordering the release of 9.19 tmcft of water to TN, which has not seen Cauvery Delta district harvest kuruvai crop for years now,” said a DMK statement, listing out the issues it has planned to rake up during the ensuing Parliament session.
The list of issues also includes action on a war-footing on the part of the Central government to implement special schemes that would helpresolve the water crisisin the State.
The party could also raise subjects promised in its Parliamentary poll manifesto, especially waiver of education and crop loans availed by TN students and farmers respectively, implementation of Women Reservation Bill, separate central budget for agriculture.
The DMK has also promised to rake up Mekedatu dam issue in the Parliament.
