In a statement, Anbumani said, “A recent survey has revealed that students who scored single digit marks either in Physics or Chemistry were admitted to a private college in Punjab. Similarly, 50 students who scored negative marks were also given admission. Among them, seven scored zero in one of the alternate science subjects.”

One of the students admitted in the college obtained 185 marks in Biology, while he scored 10 and minus 25 in Chemistry and Physics respectively. Another student obtained zero in physics, 15 in Chemistryand 85 in Biology. By getting anoverall score of 100, the student got admission inmedicine, Anbumani said.

“Of the total720 marks, he scored 100 which constitutes just 13.88 percentage. A student who has obtained just13.88 per cent has become a doctor. Thisscenario is not just prevalent in Punjab but across the country, including in Tamil Nadu,” he said.

While introducing NEET, the Central government claimed that the test would produce quality doctors but if a student who obtained 13.88 percentage marks can become a doctor it shows that the claim does not hold any merit, Anbumani claimed.

“As the reasons given by it have failed, the Centre should consider revoking NEET. If it fails to do so, the State government should file a special petition in Supreme Court in this regard,” he demanded.
