Sabari Nathan scalps the Yuva Puraskar awards for 2019
Every year 2019 the Sahitya Akademi has been conferring Yuva Puraskar awards upon the young talents. The winners list of the year 2019 has been announced on Friday.

Tamil writer Sabari Nathan has won the Yuva Puraskar award for his poetry collection 'Vaal' (Tail). The Yuva Puraskar award is awarded by the Sahitya Akademi to encourage the young writers of India.
The award was introduced in the year 2011. The eligibility to contest for the award is that the writer should be below 35 and should have written in 24 important languages of India, that includes classical languages like Tamil, Sanskrit and also esoteric languages like the Bodo.
The winners are felicitated with a copper plaque and a cash ward of Rs 50,000. Suneel Krishnan won the award among Tamil contingents last year for his short stories in 'Ambu Padukkai' (Bed of arrows).
