Udhayanidhi to contest from Nanguneri seat?
Just when it appeared all was well in the DMK-Congress camp, actor and DMK chief MK Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi has disturbed peace in the Secular Progressive Alliance, suggesting that they would not be as generous in seat sharing in future as they were thus far.

Speaking at a function organised in Tiruchy on Monday, Udhayanidhi also said they would ensure easy victory if the Congress relinquished Nanguneri Assembly seat (The constituency was vacated by Congress leader H Vasantha Kumar who has been elected to the Parliament from Kanniyakumari) to them. “I am only placing a request,” a cautious Stalin junior added, as MPs of Congress looked on from the same dais.
Udhayanidhi, who is rumoured to lead the DMK youth wing shortly, has caught the Congress off guard by declaring that they would contest more seats in future.
Though Congress seniors preferred to distance themselves from the comment or chose to describe it as an innocuous statement, the very fact that it was uttered by Stalin’s son has created unrest in Sathyamurthy Bhavan. Curiously, no Congress leader wanted to publicly react to the issue.
A Congress senior requesting anonymity said they have not received any request from the DMK thus far and Udhayanidhi should have remarked casually. “I will not be surprised if our leadership gives up the sitting seat to DMK. Who in New Delhi will talk to the DMK high command now to retain the seat? AICC is engrossed in leadership dilemma. A by-election is least of their concerns,” remarked a Congress senior who did not wish to be named.
