DMK president MK Stalin has asked Governor Banwarilal Purohit to discharge his democratic duty and order the convention of the House if the Chief Minister fails to do so.
Remarking that the principal opposition party had to raise its voice every time to even convene the Assembly in the AIADMK regime, Stalin, in a statement issued on Sunday said the AIADMK regime has not come forward to discuss or respond to discussions about people’s issue.
Referring to the acute water shortage affecting the state, Karnataka’s adamancy in not releasing water as per Cauvery Management Authority order and the Centre’s silence on Karnataka’s denial, the DMK president said, “I urge the Chief Minister to immediately convene the Assembly to discuss the pressing problems affecting Tamil Nadu and enable people’s representatives to participate in the debate on demand for grants various departments.”“If the CM fears convening the Assembly to avoid or delay the political instability created by the barrage of queries raised by the ruling party MLAs, I urged the Governor in my capacity as Leader of Opposition to immediately intervene and discharge his democratic duty by ordering the convention of the House,” Stalin added.
He also cautioned that delaying the convention of the House would lead to unnecessary confusions and crisis.
