HC directs HR and CE to perform Kumbhabishekam to temple
The Madras High Court has directed the HR&CE to hold the Kumbhabishekam of Arulmigu Drowpathi Amman Temple in Villupuram District owing to civil suit pending between two parties staking claim as hereditary trustee of the temple.

The plea filed by one S Venugopal proclaiming himself as hereditary trustee of the temple sought to direct the Joint Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, Villupuram and the Inspector of Police, Kedar Police Station to prevent any unauthorised and illegal temple function to be held in the name of HR&CE by one Annamalai.
After hearing both the parties, Justice R M T Teekaa Raman held that the Joint Commissioner, HR&CE department will decide the date of performing the Kumbhabishekam at the temple after consulting the Agama experts.
The Joint Commissioner is permitted to seek police protection if necessary, to conduct the function peacefully and take appropriate action against the concerned parties if necessary, if there is any violation of the order.
Also, the judge recorded the undertaking offered by both the parties that they will cooperate for the performance of the Kumbhabishekam in the aforesaid temple on the date as fixed by the Joint Commissioner and the expenditure incurred for conducting the Kumbhabishekam will be borne by both parties.
