    Kidney racket scam, as many as 500 people stultified

    A gang using the name of Kalyani kidney care centre in Facebook has defrauded with 500 people.

    A Hyderabad based gang using a fake facebook profile of a registered hospital, Kalyani kidney care centre in Erode's Sampath road, enticed people into applying for kidney donation promising three crores per kidney.

    This scam has hit not just districts of Tamil Nadu but also states like Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana. The fake profile asks the willing to register by paying upto Rs 15,000 to 25,000. 

    It is this money that the scamsters have lined up their pockets with, in tune to many crores. 

    This scam was unveiled after a  woman from Hyderabad dialled the Erode hospital claiming her money. The hospital authorities were startled, the matter immediately went to the police.

    There is a multi-layered investigation taken up by the Erode Superintendent Sakthi Ganesan. The probe will start from local people if any were honey-trapped in the scam.

    The gang is reported to be functioning in splinters in every city and state the scam was involved. It has its base in Hyderabad.
