Vaithilingam resigns as MLA
V Vaithilingam on Monday resigned his post as Speaker of the Assembly as he has been elected as the MP of Puducherry Lok Sabha constituency.

Vaithilingam submitted his resignation letter to the new Speaker of the Puducherry Assembly V P Sivakozhunthu.
Later talking to presspersons, Vaithilingam said that he would take oath as a member of the Lok Sabha on June 17 when Parliament convenes for the budget settion.
Vaithilingam, who was fielded as a candidate of the Congrerss party in the April 18 polls. Earlier, he was elected to the territorial assembly from Kamaraj Nagar constituency which has fallen vacant after his resignation.
