Reunion of Ilayaraja, SPB is good sign for Tamil cinema: Thiruma
VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan on Sunday said music director Ilayaraja and background singer S P Balasubramaniam coming together was a good sign for Tamil cinema.

Thirumavalavan went to Ilayaraja’s house and extended wishes on his birthday. After meeting him, Thirumavalavan, while addressing media persons, said, “Both Ilayaraja and S P Balasubramaniam are legends in Tamil music and both performing together on the same stage is a good sign for Tamil cinema andfans. This is a proud moment for Tamil cinema and their achievements will be remembered for ever”.
Ilayaraja and S P Balasubramaiam had a long-standing controversy over copyright issue as Ilayaraja claimed that no royalty was paid by the singer while performing the songs composed by him. To end the controversy, Ilayaraja recently announced that he will share stage with Balasubramaniam in the function to be organised on his birthday.
The news came as a delight to music enthusiasts and fans of both music artists. When Thirumavalavan was asked about the function, he replied that Ilayaraja should live for more than 100 years with good health and compose music for his fans. He also wished that their friendship should continue for ever.
Meanwhile, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder-president Kamal Haasan met the music composer at his house and extended wishes on his birthday.
