AYUSH admissions likely to be based on Class 12 scores
The State Health Department is likely to admit students for Ayush (ayurveda, yoga, unani, naturopathy, siddha and homoeopathy) courses based on Class 12 board exam scores, as was done last year.

While the admissions based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) score was made mandatory by the Union Ministry of Health, the respective State councils of the courses are yet to decide on the matter.
Earlier, State Health Minister C Vijay Baskar had said that admissions to courses offered under the Indian systems of medicine might be based on the NEET scores, as the Central government did not amend the regulations. He had added that the decision regarding the admission procedure would be taken after seeking the opinion of the Attorney General.
The respective State councils have not responded to the changes on the admission process after the Centre made NEET mandatory for the admissions and the State Health Department is awaiting legal opinion on the issue. In such a situation, the admissions for 2019-20 is not likely to be made on the basis of NEET score.
NEET was made mandatory for Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy courses last year. However, the Centre had given exceptions as per the decision of the respective State councils. As the rules have been amended this year, NEET no longer stands mandatory.
According to the State Health Department, this year, few States might conduct a common admission test to admit students under the respective courses, while the State Council for Ayush and Indian Medicine is yet to decide on the admission process which could be done based on the NEET score.
