11 kg silver, 6 sovereigns looted in Kovai
Burglars broke into a house at Ram Nagar in Coimbatore and looted 11 kg of silver ornaments and 6 sovereigns of gold jewellery.

According to police, Gopal (58), a resident of Rajaji Street, was running a tuition centre. He had gone to Hosur with family members to attend the marriage function of a relative.
Upon returning home around 6.30 am on Sunday, Gopal found the main doors left open. The silver ornaments and gold jewels kept inside the bureau were found missing.
On receiving information, the Kattur police rushed to the spot and held inquiries. Police said that the miscreants had attempted to burgle the house of a neighbour. They have registered a case and further inquiries are on.
In another incident, miscreants made away with Rs 4,000 in cash and five wrist watches after breaking into the house of Charlie Manoharan, residing at Balaji Nagar extension in Ramanathapuram.
With many families away on vacation, there has been a spate of burglaries in Coimbatore rural areas too over the last few days, sources said.
