As per the directive of Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, the actor-turned-politician appeared before Judicial Magistrate C Vijay Karthik and executed a separate bond for Rs 10,000 with two sureties.

The judge granted anticipatory bail. However, no condition was laid to him by the court.

Later, addressing media persons, Kamal said, “As it is a court matter, it is not right to speak about the case any further. In the end, truth always triumphs. That comment on Godse was the expression of the concept I made in the movie Hey Ram. I had spoken the same in Marina Beach. There was no compulsion to speak the same at Pallapatti. It can be spoken anywhere.”

The Madras HC Bench on May 20 granted anticipatory bail to Kamal after he moved the court apprehending arrest in connection with a case registered against him by the Aravakurichi police.

The court further ordered that Kamal be released on bail in the event of arrest or on his personal appearance within a period of 15 days before the JM-II court in Karur to execute the bail conditions.

The MNM leader stoked a controversy by making the Hindu extremist comments during an election campaign on May 12 in Karur district.

The Aravakurichi police registered a case against him under two Sections 153A and 295A of the IPC, based on a complaint lodged by a functionary of the Hindu Munnani.
