Jaishankar's elevation elates Tiruchy

Former foreign secretary Subrahmanyam Jaishankar was surprisingly given a ministerial berth without any political affiliation in the NDA government. The cabinet berth for the 64-year-old came as a surprise since he was not a member of either the Rajya Sabha or the Lok Sabha.

Tiruchy people found a reason to celebrate the occasion, as Jaishankar’s father Subrahmanyam was a native person of Tiruchy and he moved to Delhi to serve the nation.After being posted in Delhi, Subrahmanyam moved to the capital and Jaishankar continued his education in Delhi. Jaishankar first rouse to limelight when the then Manmohan Singh government planned to elevate him as the foreign secretary but the idea failed to gain phase due to variousreasons. In 2015, Jaishankar received his appointed as the foreign secretary and was involved in various successful projects including the strengthening of Indo-Chinese relationship in the border areas. After retiring from government job in 2018,Jaishankar joined the TATA group.
