VCK chief claims Vanniyar’s support after Velmurugan meet
VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan on Thursday criticised the PMK indirectly by saying that he was portrayed by a few as a person opposed to the entire Vanniyar community, but it was proved wrong in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

Thirumavalavan went to meet Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) founder, Velmurugan, at his residence in Valarasavakkam and expressed thanks for working towards his success in Chidamabaram constituency and for the success of party general secretary D Ravi Kumar, in Villupuram constituency.
After the meeting, Thirumavalavan while addressing reporters, said, “I am not against any community and my intention is to uplift the entire Tamil community. Now people have realised that I am for the entire Tamil community and soon the people who carried out wrong propaganda that I am against Vanniyar community will realise the truth.”
He also said that in his meeting with Velmurugan, he had discussed about the shrinking job opportunities for Tamils in various public sector undertakings in the state. “We discussed about Tamils losing employment opportunity in government organisations such as railways, NLC, TNEB and there is a planned work going on not to employ Tamil Nadu youth in government services. Even, Velmurugan asked me to speak about the issue in Parliament,” he said.
He also said that anti-Narendra Modi wave is strong in Tamil Nadu and the huge vote margin between the DMK candidates and the AIADMK candidates is a testimony to it. “Even in North Indian states, if there is huge support for Modi as claimed by the BJP, they did not win by a margin of more than 5 lakh votes unlike Dindigul constituency where the victory margin was more than 5 lakh,” said Thirumavalavan.
