There is palpable discontentment amongst people on the AIADMK, after all that has transpired after former CM Jayalalithaa's demise. The wrested seats of almost the whole of Tamil Nadu by her was swept away big time by the DMK and allies.

The party back in 2014 emerged as the 3rd largest party of the country with the lion's share of 44.34%, bagging 1,79,83,186 votes pushing the DMK to a distant second with 23.61%.

This has turned around rather dramatically with the AIADMK contesting just 20 seats leaving the rest to the allies as opposed to the Jayalalithaa-era's fortress that fought all the 40 by itself.

The AIADMK's vote percentage plummeted to 18.5% and the DMK saw a steep rise to 32.78% in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
